Privacy Policy
Last updated: 23 June 2026
Heads up: this policy is a developer-written starting point, not legal advice. Have it reviewed by a qualified professional before you rely on it — especially if you operate in the EU/UK (GDPR) or California (CCPA).
ASKII (“we”, “us”) is an open-source VS Code extension and CLI created by danisss9. This policy explains what data this website and the ASKII tools handle. We aim to collect as little as possible.
01What this website collects
- Contact form. When you message us we receive the name, email address, subject, and message you submit — used solely to read and reply to your enquiry.
- Transactional email. If you create an account we send operational emails only — email-address verification and password-reset links. No marketing email, no newsletters.
- Anti-spam. The form uses ALTCHA, a privacy-friendly proof-of-work challenge. It runs in your browser and sets no tracking cookies or third-party identifiers.
- Server logs. Our host keeps standard request logs (IP address, user agent, timestamp, requested path) for security and reliability, retained only as long as operationally needed.
- No analytics, no tracking cookies, no telemetry. We don’t run third-party analytics or advertising trackers.
02The extension & CLI
- They run on your machine. Your source code is not sent to us. ASKII has no telemetry.
- AI requests go to the provider you choose. When you run a command, your prompt and any selected code are sent to the model provider you configured — Ollama or LM Studio (fully local, nothing leaves your device), or GitHub Copilot, OpenAI, Anthropic, or opencode Go (processed under their terms and privacy policies).
- Local files. Backups (
.askii/backups/) and RAG indexes are written to your own workspace and never transmitted to us.
03ASKII Cloud (subscription)
If you subscribe to ASKII Cloud, the prompts and code you submit are routed to our hosted model providers to generate responses. We process this data only to deliver the service, and we do not sell it. Billing is handled by our payment processor, which receives the information needed to take payment. (Until the subscription launches publicly, treat the pricing tiers on this site as indicative.)
04Who we share data with
- Hosting provider — serves this website and processes server logs.
- Email/SMTP provider — delivers contact-form messages to our inbox and transactional emails (verification, password reset) to you.
- Model providers — only for ASKII Cloud requests, to fulfil your prompts.
We don’t sell your personal data or share it for advertising.
05Retention
We keep contact messages for as long as needed to handle your enquiry and any follow-up, then delete them. Server logs are rotated on a short schedule.
06Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, export, or delete the personal data we hold about you, and to object to certain processing. To exercise any of these, email us at info@askii.dev and we’ll respond.
07Children
ASKII is a developer tool and isn’t directed at children under 16. We don’t knowingly collect their data.
08Changes
We may update this policy; we’ll revise the “last updated” date above when we do. Material changes will be reflected on this page.
